I've always been a natural at tumbling, but...?!

Question: I've always been a natural at tumbling, but...?
I started gymnastics & tumbling classes a year ago February 4th, and I learned that tumbling came very natural to me. In a year, I'd gotten my back handspring, front handspring, front & back tuck, front & back layout, and my aerial. I can do running and standing for most of those things. I was working on my half when at practice I did a standing back handspring and landed on my neck and face. I was sick that week and feeling really tired, and I undercut really bad (undercutting has always been a problem for me) and my arms gave out and I landed on my head, my neck cracked 3 times and I tore a lot of muscles. I couldn't turn my head for 2 weeks.
I couldn't tumble for 2 months, I had to go to a chiropractor for awhile before sleeping on a special pillow to realign my spine. It's been two months, and I know I've lost all my tumbling. I tried going recently, and I do fine with a spot, but I"m scared to death to throw anything by myself. I won't do it.
I know it's all in my head now that my neck is fine, so how do I get over this fear? I love tumbling, and I want to continue on with it.

Continue to work with a coach and a spotter for a while. It may take some time before you will be confident enough to try things on your own. In many ways that is the body's way of protecting itself and preventing you from doing things you are not ready for. Your confidence will come back, but you will llikely be much more careful about things than you were before, which might not be a bad thing.
