the dogs left leg is swollen and real tender theres a lump going from his thigh up almost to his tummy

There is no way for you to know if this swelling is from a kick or an infection or something else. Only the vet will be able to tell you that.
take him to a VET imeadietly. this is a very serious infliction. who did this?!? tell them to shove their 3 foot tail up their @$$.
