Advil has made my fever Worse (Please Help)?!

Question: Advil has made my fever Worse (Please Help)?
I am black/white, 5'4, 120 lbs, and a female.

I am suffering from an Odd ilness, I don't want to say its the flu bc it'll actually be Worse. My throat was clogged, I have a severe headache and fever, yet I Can still Breathe very clearly.

This sounds gross, but I believe I coughed up most of the mucus in my throat, so now all that's left is this terrible headache and fever.

Advil is a fever "reducer", so I took Four. I do not feel Any better. The only difference is that my Throat is Less painful and my headache isn't So intense.

But here's the problem, my fever is Much worse. I am so burning up to the point my Eyes are actually watering up and burning. I have had this severe headache and fever for about 24 hours and still counting. What does this mean? Please Help.

Advil will help a fever but Tylenol will work better. Advil is more of an anti- inflammatory. I know it says fever reducer but it works better on backaches and such. Never take more than the recommended dose of any medication. More does not make it work better but could make you sick. You need to eat on cold things like ice chips, popsicles, sherbet, cold drinks with lots of ice in them. Your head hurts because of the fever, once you get it down you will feel better but the key is lots of cold stuff. Cold juice, ice tea, soda pop, anything like that and all you can drink or eat of cold stuff. Also cold cloths to the forehead will help. If you have an ice pack wrap it in a pillow case and put it on your head or against your body like under your arm pits. Getting the fever down is the key. You can take Tylenol one hour earlier than the package says when you have a high fever but not more than the recommended dose. IF your fever continues to climb after trying the cold food & drinks and ice pack and Tylenol you will need to see a Dr. but remember fevers always go up in the evening.

Tigress, don't fool around you may have contracted a serious flu or hooping cough type illness. Advil although good for pain may not be your answer for fever or infection. Do what the doctor suggests and go to the hospital ot find an anti-biotic to treat the cause.

Advil does not make a persons fever worse. This means your fever is severe and you must go to the er/hospital immediately. How high has your fever been? Your headache is mostly due to your high fever.Since you have had this fever for 24 + hours, and still the advil didn't help to lower your fever...I strongly suggest that you go to the emergency room asap. This happened to me a long while back, and I ended up have a severe kidney infection that turned toxic(got into my blood stream),my fever went to 106 +,and tylenol or anything else helped it.Nothing,I had to be packed into a tub of ice cubes at the hospital(after being transferred). You either call your doctor now,or go to the er/hospital now. From what your explaining here it doesn't sound very good.....go.That's what it means...Go.
