How do I recover from too much shoveling...of snow?!

Question: How do I recover from too much shoveling...of snow?
Here in Chicago, we had about 2 feet. The neighbor had a snow blower --- no problem. Later we had only 2 inches and I shoveled it myself. Later, my left shoulder hurt like hell. Ice helped. Aspirin really helped. Heat... I was not sure. So, 4 days later, I'm OK. I lift some weights... 17 pounds. The pain was back BIG TIME. How do I cure this ACUTE problem?

Answers:

evidently you've strained/sprained something in your shoulder;; your best bet is to get it checked out so as you don't re-injure..esp like ya just did with your poor form with your exercise protocol...if your form was good, you should actually have no problem lifting 17 #'s..what I would suggest is keeping your protocol without the weights... learn proper breathing & scapular stabilization techniques..cont with the icing & anti-inflammatories;; check with your doc & request a PT referral to get you on the right track all the way around..again, it truly wasn't the snow, nor the weights, but more your form & exercise techniques...
