How do you get a really bad headache to go away?!

Question: How do you get a really bad headache to go away?
I woke up this morning feeling fine. I went to my dance competition when it was done I had a really bad headache but ignored it thinking it would go away soon but I went to church and it just got worse I've tried medecine but it didn't do anything.

Just off hand, my guess is that you are dehydrated and probably still feeling the stress and adrenaline from the competition.

You aren't saying what medicine you took. Hope it was appropriate to a headache.

Drink a couple glasses of water and eat something high protein. Scrambled eggs aren't too fattening. Have a salad, too.

If that doesn't help, take a shower and go to bed and sleep it off. With absolutely no music. Forget the computer and anything else. Maybe a fan to create a white noise.

Sometimes benadryl can help a bad headache. I learned this when my daughter had migraines. Also, a little caffeine can help-like a cup of hot tea. Cold rag on the head is good. Also, you can apply pressure to the web-like area between your thumb and first finger with the thumb and first finger of your other hand. This is an accupressure point, and it will break the cycle of pain. If the headache does not go away; you might find that you need to see a doctor to be checked for a sinus or other infection.

I hope you feel better.

Hi there!

uhhmm.. i dont want to rely much on Mefinamic acid or other medicine unless its really that painful. but what i usually do is i press real hard on the skin in between my thumb and index finger.

press it with your other thumb and index finger until the pain lightens.. though most of the time it works but if its really unbearable its best if you go consult a doctor just to be sure its not a symptom of something worse.- ingatz!

my brain :)

Go to sleep earlier or take a nice, comfortable nap. Stay away from loud music, the t.v., or your computer. Also, eat a healthy snack and drink a lot of water to open up the blood vessels in your head and reduce the tension of contracted veins. If the pain persists for weeks, see a doctor.

Try relaxing. If not, see your doctor about Maxiran AND benadrl
its a weird combo but it has had a lot of success.

I get migraines and I take 2-3 liquigels and put a cold cloth over my eyes in a dark room. After I wake up I'm good :)
