What is wrong with my foot/ anything poisonous in Buffalo?!

Question: What is wrong with my foot/ anything poisonous in Buffalo?
Two full days ago, I noticed I had pain in my foot. I thought nothing of it. It was a long day, I attended a wake for a friend. I had steal toe boots on the entire day. I noticed the pain at the end of the day, and went to bed assuming it would be gone in the morning.
Friday I woke up with an intense feeling of pain in my foot, and I assumed I must have somehow caught an edge the day before and injured my foot without realizing it at the time. I taped it up for support for the day, and in the evening I noticed my foot was completely swollen. I iced it, and 24 hours later without agitating it, it is still completely swollen and I can no longer walk with it.

I live in snowy buffalo, ny. Is there any chance that I could have somehow by bitten by anything poisonous? Is there even anything in the area that IS poisonous here? If so what could it be?

Don't tape up your foot. This will cause swelling and can impede the circulation to your foot. If you are diabetic or have a history of PAD or any other circulatory problems then you need to see your doctor as soon as possible. Is it your entire foot or is it just on the inner side near the base of your big toe? If it is there it could be gout. Here is a link to an article about gout.

You may have twisted your foot in your sleep. Or your steel toed shoes have placed too much stress on your foot and have caused the pain. It would probably be a good idea to go see your doctor and have it checked. Don't tape up your foot. Keep it elevated and continue with the ice packs until you see your doctor.
With all the cold temperatures in NY and the snow I think it's unlikely you were bitten by anything unless you've seen spiders in your home. Take some Advil or Motrin for the pain unless you have been told by your doctor not to take it. If it isn't better by Monday I would go to my doctor. Sooner if the pain and swelling increases.
