My neck hurts too much to hold up?!

Question: My neck hurts too much to hold up?
I went to the Chiropractor on Thursday because I was having pain on the left side of my neck that made it impossible for me to turn it to the left at all. The Chiropractor told me I have torticollis, which should go away in time if I consistently keep my neck hot. So I've been wearing things around my neck to keep it warm and have avoided any activity. The pain on the left side of my neck is slowly decreasing, although it's still nearly impossible to turn all the way. My problem now is that towards the middle of the day, the RIGHT side of my neck becomes so tired and sore from holding my head up, that I have to lay down. Once I lay down, the pain goes away. It's like it's just so sore from supporting my head. I think it might be because I'm favoring that side, as I can't turn it to the left, and so the right side is taking a toll and being sore. But it's getting worse, and I don't know what to do. Bengay only temporarily makes it feel better. i can't just lay down all day. I'm going back to the chiropractor on Monday where they say they will look at my x rays, but I just wonder what anybody here can tell me. Ever happened to you before? Is there anything they can do for me while the torticollis on the left side of my neck is healing to take the pressure off the right side of my neck? I just don't want the right side of my neck to start to have problems now too.

This sounds very serious (not trying to scare you). PLEASE stay away from this chiropractor and see a REAL DOCTOR before he snaps your neck clear off and turns you into a vegetable!!! I've seen a couple of chiropractors in the past; these guys are so transparent...they'll just work you like a schmuck til' your bank account runs dry or you've exhausted your insurance, whichever comes first. Seriously, please stay away from this creep and go to the hospital or something...this is your NECK we're talking about here...not some type of muscle spasm in the lower parts of your back. Think about it...your neck...YOUR NECK! If this wasn't such a "delicate" part of the body and didn't present with such serious symptoms (I would say not being able to hold your neck up is pretty serious)...then I wouldn't be treating your going to the chiropractor as such a serious situation...but it sounds like you've just started seeing this guy and it pains me to think of you walking around for the rest of your life with your head hanging down 'cause you chose to see this "quack" over a more qualified professional. Even if you were one of those people who swear up and down by chiropractic, I'd take it you'd seriously consider seeing a MEDICAL DOCTOR as soon as possible and NOT a chiropractor. Sit down and think about this before this guy puts you into the hospital. I'll say a prayer for you.

Please see www.quackwatch.com. I think there's a link to a website called "chirobase" or something like that... that should give you a better perspective on the dangers about seeing a chiropractor, especially about a problem like this which you have no idea as to how serious it is...or WHAT it is. Take care!
