Hi, I can sympathise with you. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia when I was 18 (18 years ago) when it was little known. I had been diagnosed as having arthritis for 5 years before that. I stopped taking the amitriptiline tablets that I was prescribed about 5 years ago as I hate being dependent on tablets. I basically just try and live with it as best as I can. Like you said there are good and bad days and I try and limit the bad days by keeping my weight down doing gentle exercises and eating a healthy diet. The heavier I am, the worse the pain is, especially as mine effects the knees more than anything. It does get me down, I have trouble sleeping sometimes and I just constantly feel like drained and like I have a mild bout of flu coming on. To people who havent got fibromyalgia, it is a very hard thing to understand as we do look generally well but often feel awful. I do tend to feel better in the sun and warmer weather, so perhaps with this terrible weather at the moment, you can invest in one of those sun lamps. The only advice I can give is eat well, try and exercise and keep warm. Good luck.
