How do you prevent athletes foot?!

Question:

How do you prevent athletes foot?

Answers:

First, CURE any infection you have. You can usually use topical over the counter anti-fungal creams.

Next, make sure to remove any existing sources like old shoes, boots, even winter boots you may wear once a year. Washing and exposing shoes to sunlight can help, but it's a good idea to switch footwear completely (closet clean).

Clean your house and bathroom floor. If you have mildew then you're in an environment that's perfect for athletes foot.

To prevent later infections:

CHANGE YOUR SOCKS at least twice a day. Make sure your feet stay dry whenever possible. Do not wear tight shoes that will not vent sweat. Wash your feet at least once a day (it's not difficult to wash your feet when you change your socks). One of the most important things is to wash your socks in very hot water, use bleach and dry them until there is not a drop of moisture. If you can, purchase new socks.

Provided you have no open cuts, you may find spraying deodorant on your feet and between your toes is beneficial. Make sure to dry between your toes whenever they are damp.

When getting rid of athletes foot, IMHO, it is best to take an aggressive approach and peel away as much affected skin prior to treatment. You may wish to do this in a bath and be careful not to open any wounds or remove too much skin. Do not cause yourself pain and as soon as you are done CUT YOUR NAILS.
