What is ibuprofen taken for?!

Question:

What is ibuprofen taken for?

Answers:

ALERT: Someone above said that Tylenol is Ibuprofen ... NOT correct. It's acetaminophen.

Funny ... I just spoke with the pharmacist about this because my son gets headaches. Ibuprofen is an NSAID pain killer. Meaning it is in aspirin family and concentrates on stopping muscular pain and inflammation. He informed me that it is NOT the best choice for anyone under 12 because it can cause RYE's syndrome which is dangerous and sometimes fatal in young children. Any product containing Aspirin can do this.

I was so glad I asked because my son is only 8. He said that Tylenol would be the best choice for headaches - even for adults - because it works better on head pain than Ibuprofen. However, both acetaminophen and ibuprofen are very hard on the body ... your liver and kidneys for instance. He said that Aspirin is still the GOLD standard in the medical industry for stopping headaches ... meaning it woks better for ADULTS than then the other choices. Tylenol is the safest for kids under 12 ... period.
