Ice and salt, is that a burn or frostbite?!

Question: Ice and salt, is that a burn or frostbite?
My boyfriend fell asleep in the presence of his drunk friends and they pulled this "prank" on him, putting salt on his skin and pressing an ice cube on it for I'm not sure how long, anyway it looks pretty ugly..I was wondering, is it considered a burn or frostbite?

Answers:

When you make home made ice cream, you put salt on the ice because it makes it get colder. Therefore your boyfriend has frostbite.

Mhm well salt is a chemical reaction with ice so the salt will melt the ice before it does anything the the skin.
Example like when is a icy road they put salt on the road it melt's it...
