How many hours asleep are you suppost to have?!

Question: How many hours asleep are you suppost to have?
Im 16, a girl and go to bed roughly at 1ish and wake up at half 6 in the morning to get ready for school however at the weekends i get a bit extra because i lay in untill half 10 ish. Is this enough sleep? Are you suppost to have a certain amount of sleep? What happends if you dont have the right amount of sleep ? How much sleep do you have ? Thanks (:

Answers:

It's recommended to have on average 8 hours sleep a night. I'm a 17 year old girl, and i normally get about 5-6 hours sleep a night

I think the quota is eight hours but its not so much the length of sleep you get but getting in a proper sleeping pattern. This sleeping pattern would be un-interrupted and you wouldnt be using an alarm system to get you out of bed reason being it would interrupt your circurdium (sp?) rhythm and this is responsible for your hormones. Dont let your hormones go through their natural cycle and your suppress them and that leads to premature aging and low immunity, raises excess cortisol which reduces the hyperpholymas gland thats responsible for your thinking.

When you get into a sleeping pattern you should find waking up really easy your get out of bed quite energised and focused rather than drowsy and dazed. This can take a month of routinely going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time for it to happen.

Not something iv been able to do for very long but theres the positives.

Everyone is supposedly different - it's based on how much night there is, how cold it is, how much rest you need from the day you've had, how well you are.

It's prolonged unrest that impacts you, a single night of poor or little sleep should balance out the next night, or a siesta in the day could put it right.

You may have a natural ability to 'power nap', like you don't even know you're doing it; still awake, just subduing over-alertness at 'off-peak' times - or you're just restful throughout the day so eight hours sleep per night is unnecessary...

If I have eight hours sleep, I have a twenty three-/-six hour body clock resulting in consecutive days. I'm usually better off waking naturally after about seven hours sleep, but still occasionally have a monstrous wave of insurmountable fatigue ( think '|' >/> '_' ) approximately four hours before I actually go to bed.

Most adults need 7-8 hours per night, teenagers need more, around 8-10 hours per night. By starving yourself of sleep, you will have difficulty concentrating, be iratable, stressed, have a weakened immue system and be more likely to gain weight.
Try to go to bed a little earlier especially o week nights, 11:30 ish. You will feel muxh better.

Your meant to get at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night if you aged 15 and above. So try to sleep around 10 or 11 twice a night or make it a habit because its not healthy if you're sleeping only 5 or 6 hours a night?
Good luck
Take Care, and try to do some exercise in the morning, such as star jumps and stuff to get your blood going and feel better and less drowsy or sleepy?

You need to get 7-8 hours of sleep. That is nowhere near enough. You will be tired, possibly depressed, have slower reflexes, and your immune system will be weakened so you will get sick more often. I usually get around 8 hours sleep.

8 hours would be a good guideline.

From experience, anything below 6 and a half will directly affect your performance during the day. I would definately recommend getting between 7 to 8 hours sleep each night.

There is a huge range within normal. Par for the course is said to be 8 hours but many individuals feel well on much less.

GP for more years than I care to remember

Its recommended adults 18 years up should have atleast 8 hours sleep and under 18 atleast 10 hrs

Really depends on yourself, but usually a teenager needs 8-10 hours of sleep.

Don't sleep more than 8.
Don't sleep less than 6.
7-8 is perfect, although most people struggle to get that much sleep.

8 hours is healthy.

8 hours i think .

8 for a teen.
I'm asleep 1:00AM and wake up 7:10AM.
I don't get good rest, lol!

lol i do the exact same as you but im 13- i think its about 8-10hours :)

A normal hours for sleep its 8 hours! if you sleep longer, than you will feel tired all day
