How do you cope with cluster headaches?!

Question: How do you cope with cluster headaches?
Anyone? If you've experienced it? I was diagnosed with this yesterday. Been having it for 5 weeks, and didn't know what it was. I think mine is mild, but still very painful. I don't have the whole "I'm going to commit suicide" thing. It's just very tough to cope with. I guess mine is just a mild case. I can very much tolerate it, but it's still hurts like all hell. Taking prescribed pain killers, which seem to be doing the trick. I hope all who suffer from the severe ones, find peace soon. I thought I was living in hell for the past 5 weeks, I can't imagine what others must go through. I get them probably every 3 days, some lasting from 3-12 hours, in which it reaches a peak, then gets steadily tolerable as the day progresses. Since taking the pain killers, I've yet to have it. Hopefully a neurologist can help me through this.
Just looking for tips some people use to help with it. Any suggestions? Do ice packs on the eyes helps? Like I said, the pain is mild, but typically last longer than most.

Answers:

My doctor recommended to me to not sit down. Reflexively you want to immediately lay down on the bed, but I found that her advice of pacing the floor with warm towels on my wrists helped greatly. It's only effective if I do it immediately as the symptoms begin- but it does work so well! Better than painkillers ever could.

trigger point therapy for headaches book. no addictive or expensive pills. nerve blocks are an option if you enjoy needles being jabbed deep into neck and facial muscles, botox can also be used for certain headaches
