My thumb wont stop bleeding?
I cut my thumb making dinner last night. I spent a good few hours holding my hand up and apply pressures. It seems more or less fine while I have a band-aid on, but when ever i take it off to put on a new one it becomes clear that it hasn't stopped bleeding.
What else can i do to make it stop bleeding? I realize i should probally go to a doctor...but i don't have insurance. And if I had money for an uninsured hospital visit I'd have money for insurance.

it really depends on the severity of the cut, if its superficial your probably best just putting pressure on it, and continue puting bandages on, however if it doesn't stop bleeding and i mean bleeding through bandages bleeding, or the cut is deeper, jagged, if theres debris inside, or if the knife was rusty definitley go to the ER, trust me im an ER physician i see lacerations all the time, its better to have it looked at if it meets any of the above critieria, also if it is just superficial, and you dont go in to have it checked out, but it shows any signs of infection (fever, discharge, redness, swelling) go and get it checked out, until then PRESSURE, and keep adding gauze/bandages, bandaids arent the best for everything : ) Good Luck!
