Answers:

I'm in a similar situation.I just had ankle surgery last week,so I'm in a cast.

My advice - Don't shower,take baths instead.They are much,much easier!

1. Cover your cast in a regular plastic grocery bag,and tie that. Then, take a regular sized garbage bag and cover your cast with that as well.Tie it shut.
2. When you get into the bath, sit on the edge first and scooch yourself in,keeping the casted leg on the edge and not letting it fall into the water.
3. Bathe as you normally would while taking a bath except don't put your foot down.To wash the casted leg,I suggest using a washcloth so there is less of a chance to get water in.

Using the above method,I've taken multiple baths, and I have never once gotten my cast wet.

If you really would like to take a shower instead of a bath,I highly suggest getting two things:

1. A cast cover. You can get them all over the place on the web,and many drugstores also carry them. The brands that I have heard work best can be found at these websites:

2. A little shower chair or stool that you can sit on because standing on one foot for an extended period of time while also trying to wash yourself is extremely hard, and a chair or stool provides a place for you to sit but still shower appropriately.
