Upper leg pain and numbess... blood clot?

This question is actually for my grandmother. She is having a lot of pain in her upper thigh. Even the slightest touch(pants) makes it worse. If she sits for too long, it's worse. Lastnight, we had been sitting and when she got up, the pain was so bad, it almost knocked her down. She said it felt like something was ripping on the inside. She has recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure, and that seems to be the doctors only concern. Any ideas, suggestions? Something?

--She has had no leg or hip injuries, and she's only in her early 50's.

I went through the same thing a few years ago (I was in my early 50s).I was hospitalized(MRI.xrays and the works) my problem turned out to be inflammation of the Sciatica nerve.Anti inflammatory medication did the trick.I still have it once in a while and take anti inflammatory med.for it.
