NEED CRUTCHES TIPS URGENTLY?!

Question: NEED CRUTCHES TIPS URGENTLY?
Need the best way to avoid hurting underarms (mine are currently bruised/red) or hands whilst using crutches (also bruised/red)?

Also i don't have a fitness problem but is there any way to not get as tired from using the crutches (like a certain style or something)? i can barely make 50 m without being tired

Sometimes crutches can hurt worse than the actual injury, which really blows. The best thing I can suggest, is if you're going to be out of commission for awhile get a doctor to write a prescription for one of those wheeled cart things that holds one leg and you push with the other.
If you have to use crutches for awhile, I would suggest this. Otherwise, take as many breaks as possible- supporting all your weight on your hands can be harmful to your joints, especially if you are still growing, (I don't know how old you are).
In the meantime, use ibuprofen or advil as antiinflammatories for the redness and swelling. Show them to your doctor to prove that you need this other medical device.
The only other option is a wheelchair, unfortunately.

And is super expensive, but doctors can get insurance companies to pay better than you can on your own- especially with the severity of your crutch injuries.

I've used crutches and canes for years- they're awful

You definitely need some tips on how to use crutches. I am a nurse and I often observe physical therapists instructing patients on the use of crutches. I just made a visit to one of my favorite medical websites: WebMd. Search for crutch walking and you will find helpful advice.

You should not be putting any pressure to your underarms, therefore I can assume that your crutches are not adjusted correctly. Nerve damage can occur due to this pressure. I think that when you do some investigation into how to use crutches with the type of disability you have, your armpits and hands will get better. Different types of injuries require different techniques in using crutches.

For some people using a walker with front wheels can be helpful, and this may be an option for you while your hands and armpits heal. Then you can switch back to crutch walking. Walkers also need to be adjusted to your height.

Another option may be to go a medical supply company. Employees may be able to give you some tips on proper crutch use. If the crutches were prescribed by a physician, then you may want to ask for advice from him/her. Perhaps you qualify for physical therapy, where a professional can work with you and teach you techniques.

When you are more comfortable using crutches, you will be able to walk further. Hope this helps.

I would highly recommend Millennial Crutches. They have a spring shock absorber in the bottom which not only absorbs the negative impact but gives you some of your energy back, so it takes less energy to use these crutches. They also have a comfortable ergonomic handle and because of the spring in the bottom you don't experience the underarm jamming. I have used them and love them. Plus you will see a lot of pro athletes use them also.

Sounds like you need to adjust them up. When you're standing straight, with good posture, the crutches should be almost to your armpits. Then use them as a fulcrum to pivot and take normal steps. You should only be moving the crutches forward about a foot at a time.

Use something and tie it over the top of the crutch to soften the impact. A pillow, soft clothes, anything that will provide cushion.
