Cut on my lip?!

Cut on my lip?
I was just watching TV then my lip started to burn and it turned red. After about 10 minutes it turned into a bump. Then later it turned into a cut. Like a paper cut, but I didn't even touch it. It hurts when I open my mouth and I have to go to the dentist to have my lip bumper put in.
What is it and how do I stop it from hurting?

My parents said it might be a coldsore but it just turned into a regular cut in like, 5 minutes.

There are a number of products to alleviate the pain and to help healing (abreva, orajel etc), but unfortunately you are most likely going to get these every once and a while for the rest of your life
