cortisone shot and side effects?!

Question: Cortisone shot and side effects?
ok. well, i went on the 8th of this month to my dr. for pain in my shoulder (rotary cuff) and the nurse gave me a cortisone shot in my hip.. and others meds follow behind that.. well, its day 6 days later and i am having the worse pain in my hip, thigh, buttock, like a charlie horse without the major pain. but i do have pain.. and today i am running a slight fever.. what should i do? is this a side effect from the shot? and also i went in for shoulder pain not hip pain.. why the shot in my hip?

Answers:

Somethings seriously wrong here, I get cortisone shots all the time for my shoulder injury, in my shoulder, the doctor comes in from behind/side and injects it right into the joint. I would go back to your doctor. The side effects maybe that you didn't need the shot there. The medicine doesn't travel well. It basically settles in whatever area it was injected, give or take a little movement, but hip to shoulder is unrealistic. Go back in. Thats not right by any means. Trust me for several reasons, 1 I get the same shots, I work in a Pain Mgmt Clinic as a Therapist, I am a Pre Med student, and I am an EMT. I am surrounded by this stuff. Best of Luck, feel better and get into the doctor asap.

Pain Mgmt Therapist, PreMed student, EMT, I get the same shot, in the shoulder

I've had cortisone shots in my back for back pain. As far as I know the shots go, generally, where the pain is, at least within the same area. My husband has had a torn rotator cuff and all of his cortisone shot have been right in the top of his shoulder. As for the fever And pain I would call the dr. And while you're telling him about that mention the difference in area of pain and shot location. And I would do this asap. ~Rocket~
