Hamstring Injury?!

Question:

Hamstring Injury?

I injured my hamstring dusting off a TAC SGT at OCS. It has been over a year and the hamstring feels very week any advice on how to improve/recover this area?

Answers:

The hamstring is a tough muscle to recover from, but it sounds like you are not doing too bad.

You should do equal exercises for both the quadriceps (front of thigh) and the hamstrings as they are complimentary muscles.

Try doing some quadricep extensions or leg extensions with light weight. Then laying on your stomach, do hamstring curls with light weight. Quads are stronger (usually) than hamstrings so you may need to adjust your weight for each leg. You shouldn't feel pain as you do these exercises but feel it working. You should also lift 2 seconds up and 4 seconds down. Your muscle works harder on the down cycle and that is where you get your strength from in the exercise. Try doing 3 sets of 12 repetitions, again with a light weight.

Do this every other day as you should have a day in between for muscle regrowth and recovery.

Good luck!
