Health insurance for kids?!

Question: Health insurance for kids?

My son was recently knocked off Medicaid for us making too much money and we also make too much for CHIP. Those seem to be the only choices for insurance for kids in Texas. What other companies will insure a child without insuring the parents too (we have our policies with our parents).

Because of the healthcare deform bill all insurance companies have discontinued offering child only policies. It's about time you guys get your own policy, or at least one of you.

I can tell you that BCBSTX no longer will sell individual policies with minor children as a subscriber. That used to be the case, but AFAIK it's not available anymore.

If you want to confirm it with them, the sales line I'm aware of is Individual Sales Representative
(New Business Sales) (800) 531-4456. The dental rider that goes along with it is a crappy fee schedule, though, so don't waste your money.
