Question: How can i sleep and get to sleep better?
need some tips for helping me get to sleep and staying asleep?

no alcohol
no caffeine
take a hot bath
clean sheets
go to the bathroom before bed



gettting to sleep: Dont think about things that happened during the day, or things that you plan to do in the future. Make an imaginary world in your head, that you can visit often, even at times you dont plan to go to sleep. When you get bored of one world, branch it to another one that is totally different. (as if you are the author of a book). The reason for this is to block out all the "important" things that unintentionally keep you awake.

Stay asleep: Make sure to have a consistent schedule. (go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday). If noises wake you up at night, consider using something in your background such as a fan, tv, computer, etc, for white noise, so that it blocks out all the random sounds. If there are any lights in your room (besides tv if that helps (it doesnt for me)), make sure they are not directed at your eyes, even if your eye lids are shut, especially if the lights are on/off randomly, or even in a pattern. Dont take naps during the day.

Well, I've had sleeping problems for a couple of years now, and I, personally think that Melatonin helps, it's a supplement, and it really works. I also work really hard to wear myself out during the day, I sleep in a completely dark room, and my cat goes in her crate at night so there are completely no distractions from my sleep.Also it helps if you get a routine into place right before you go to bed. Like for instance I read every night, so that when i do, my brain knows that its almost time to shut down. Last if you go to bed at relatively the same time every night, it helps a lot.

dont listen to loud music before sleeping.

eat 2 hours before going to sleep, never eat and immediately go to sleep as the digestion process with be on with a high rate and it will keep u awake.

dont drink water or any fluid before going to bed.

take your mind completely off from erotic or romantic thoughts.

before sleeping , get into a comfortable position, darken the room and make sure u feel completely relaxed.

carefully choose ur pillow which suits u

wear loose fitting cotton clothes

listen to some very soft rythms or songs, they induce sleep



Common sleep aids include Melatonin, Valerian, 5-HTP, Chamomile tea and warm milk.
