How do you treat a highly venomous spider bite?!

Question:

How do you treat a highly venomous spider bite?

Such as a red back or white tail (Australian), to minimise the damage done?

Answers:

Maybe it depends a bit on the spider - the link below says it is up to date and says pressure immobilization bandage for funnel web, but not for red back and other spider bites (ice pack, calm and still, seek medical assistance etc). The link is for a site that I think comes from the same text I got the time before my last first aid course update (same bloke in the photos by the looks of it). Might be worth doing a first aid course or refresher, as this will give you up to date info on this and other first aid practices (and they often give you a text book for reference). Good luck.
