Only way to find out is to try :o)
Working in any new environment can be scary but hopefully you will be placed with a nurse whom you can shadow, hopefully you will get one who likes teaching and will have time for you. Ask if there is someone specifically you can work alongside. Health care assistants are often the best folk to work with as they know all the basic care and can give you a good grounding.

To get the best out of it I would write out a list your concerns and what you actually hope to achieve, also any questions that you would want to know. As its a work experience I would be keen that you knew of any given situation that you may wish to experience, this could be simple bathing techniques (which is extremely important), possibly diet and nutrition of patients and finding out about infection control. Keep a small notebook with you in case any questions crop up during the day that you can ask your mentor later.

Good luck

Smile, and do what ever you can to stay busy. Employers like that. go out of your way to help where ever needed. It's a learning experience. I have worked in a hospital as a CNA and a Phlebotomist. I LOVED it. Went back to school to be a Veterinary Technician, and did that for 7 years. I just finished school, to become a Registered Medical Assistant. Did my internship at a Internal Medicine Office. You must be empathetic, and treat the patients the way you would want yourself and family members be treated. Most of all, Enjoy your job! Good luck!
