My jaw is popping from TMJ. Can you help?!

Question: My jaw is popping from TMJ. Can you help?
Does anyone have this condition? What do you do to ease the pain?
This "jaw popping" started about October of 2010. I went to a regular doctor who checked me out. She told me I would be fine, and to take some ibuprofen. Well, obviously the medicine isn't working. My jaw pops when I talk, sing, ect. I can barely open my mouth wide enough to bite into a freaking hamburger.
The pain is an eight on a scale of 1-10. If you have any useful information, please feel free to share. Not sure what I should do about this. I'm scheduled to see an orthodontist, but I don't want to wait to book an appointment. The pain is too much!!

Answers:

TMJ is caused by tight jaw muscles and freeing them up gets rid of the condition for you and here's how to free it up:
Jaw muscles, TMJ:
Put your fingers on your head so your thumbs are behind your ears. Press into the back of your jaw next to the skull and hold that pressure. After 30 seconds slowly raise your head until your neck is fully extended then open your mouth as far as you can. Release the pressure but hold your head and mouth like that for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

I used to have the same basic problem - a wrestling injury (face to the mat) knocked my jaw out of alignment. it eventually reset but could pop out whenever biting on something hard, or if bumped in the face or whatever. Hurts like a ***** too.

Unfortunately, I got the same treatment as you... "take ibuprofen and suck it up". I consulted doctors and a dentist (figured it was a sort of mouth thing).

I can only say that now, 25 years later, it doesn't seem to pop out any more. Haven't had a problem in years.

I had the same problem but the jaw locks went away after i had braces. Maybe you need almost like a ..retainer. (similar to it) & where it when you sleep to prevent the jaw locks during the day.

i suggest u get intramuscular injection of tramol
and get it checked by the orthodentists
but an im injection will help u with the pain now
