possible appendicitis...?!

Question: Possible appendicitis...?
I've been having a sharp pain near my belly button but more off to the right. It doesn't go away and the pain has gotten a little worse. It started on Sunday night at around 10pm. Could I have appendicitis or what could it be? I made an appointment but they can't see me for 1 week and the receptionist told me if my symptoms get worse go to the ER. She said I might have appendicitis because the pain isn't severe until it ruptures. It's similar to the pain I experienced when I had gallstones but that's impossible because my gallbladder was removed.

Answers:

Calm yourself. Yes no rebound tenderness (pain on realease) can rule out appendicitis, as well as appendicitis doesnt hurt near the umbilicus (bellybutton) it hurts in the LOW right, like down by the pelvic bone. Its not acute colitis, that usually presents on the Low to middle left side and would have worse GI symptoms first like diarrhea. Sounds like it could have to do with your ovaries, but a sporatic period doesnt always mean ovarian problems. It could be as simple as a slight hernia, or muscle opening.( does the pain go away when you push on it lightly?) Does it hurt deep into your stomach or on the muscle layer? If you have no GI sypmtoms, I have a hard time beleiving its GI related (colitis, appendicitis, etc) Have an ultrasound of your ovaries done to rule out cysts.Dont take any medications that somebody on the internet tells you to take until you verify that they are safe for you personally! I dont really know without examining you, theres literally hundreds of things it could be. Good Luck, If its not hurting deep into your stomach and feels like pain on the bellybutton, it will go away. Its most likely muscle changes and you should be fine. Get checked to be safe.

Actually, it's not impossible. They leave in the bile ducts, and you can get gallstones in the ducts after your gall bladder is removed. However, if there is any possibility it is appendicitis, go to the hospital. Removing an appendix before it ruptures is no big deal, after it ruptures, you are looking at weeks in the hospital.

Yes it could be Appendicitis .

One cannot rule out acute Colitis as well.

In any case please do not drink Milk or any milk product or even Ice Cream till you see a doctor.
If you have constipation, then please take a light laxative with some warm water at night today.
Please keep a Spasmo Proxyvon / Baralgan tablet handy just in case the pain becomes severe.

Can't say for sure, but here's a tidbit that might help. Once during a er visit with severe abdominal pains, the dr pushed down on my right side. He said when I let up, you may feel excruciating pain. When he let up I didn't. So he said that pretty much ruled out appendix. So you may want to try that and if it hurts worse when you let up I would take an er trip asap!
Hope you feel better soon!!!

Do you have any other symptoms such as fever, nausea, vomiting?

Do you have diarrhea? Its a comon sympton of appendicitus

you need to be seen go in today........ have someone take you. To the ER that is....
