A CT or MRI scan, with or without contrast, can detect physical abnormalities in the brain. What such scans can't see are some subtle abnormalities like epilepsy. With burning in the arms I would continue searching for other causes, like problems in the neck (disk problems, stenosis) or shoulders (thoracic outlet syndrome) or even nutritional issues (B12 deficiency) and anemias.

I have to have a MRI every 3 months on my brian, due to a cyst that was found in there 4 years ago. A ct scan dint show as good of results as an mri, they found my cyst with a ct scan but then sent me via ambulance to the nearest hospital with an mri machine. The burning in your arms, have you had your spine looked at? For the question, I would ask for a MRI on your brain not a CT. I forgot to add, best of luck finding the source of the pain, you just have to keep pushing the Dr.'s and demand to find out what is causing it. Hope you find the problem and take care.
