L4 pinched nerve/sciatica- prognosis without surgery? healing timeline?!
Question: L4 pinched nerve/sciatica- prognosis without surgery? healing timeline?
Answers:
sounds unlikely that any intervention will be needed, at most some chiropractic care.
Never heard of it.
It's hard to say because every case is likely a little different. I just posted the following message a couple days ago and it would apply to answering your question so I'll paste it below. It is great that you are already stretching your lower back every day, but also stretch your hamstrings, glutes and IT band if you can. You may also consider icing a few times a day.

I understand your situation. I have the same 3 discs compressed and degenerate disc disease. It got to the point of not being able to roll over in bed. The debilitating nerve pain was so unbearable at the end.
To answer your question there are things you can do to lose weight, primarily it would be diet because you can't exercise regularly. As for recommendations with that I don't know your profile info or needs assessment so I can't give the individual advice unless I worked with you as a client. There are nutrition aids that I used to help.
This was part of what became my routine. I am now 95% back to 'normal' which is amazing.
#1 - OmegaPlex from Advocare because it has anti-inflammatory benefits

#2 - MNS 3 from Advocare because it helped me control cravings and increase the health of my metabolism.

#3 - lots of water... 60% of people suffer from pain because they are dehydrated. Not to say that your back pain is caused by dehydration, however it does contribute to some extent on how you feel.
#4 - Stretching... trust me that I know how difficult this can be come times when you feel immobile, but the tighter your muscles are the more they will 'pinch' / 'squeeze' on the nerves (in your case sciatic nerve.) Here is a resource page I created in regards to stretching and I included a complimentary stretching chart. http://www.sevenwellness.com/The-importa…
#5 - Foam roller... this works great for loosening up the hip and taking pressure off the sciatic nerve when used over a period of time. You can find foam rollers for purchase at the link below. As for instruction, YouTube has a lot of videos.

I can remember when I was knee deep in severe nerve pain that I couldn't even see the light at the end of the tunnel. Then, I decided that I could find a way to get my life back after 5 years and gaining nearly 50 pounds due to immobility. It took a lot of work and I had to push through a lot, but you can do it if you decide that you are fed up with the pain.
I wish you the best with your journey to becoming a back pain survivor.
