Why would a muscle relaxant do this?!
Question: Why would a muscle relaxant do this?
I was in hospital for a gallbladder/pancreatitis complication a few months back. I was really rather ill and had many trips in and out of hospital.
However, the first time i was admitted i was placed in a high dependency ward where they gave me a very large syringe of muscle relaxant. About 5 seconds after the nurse had finished and walked away my heart began to pound incredibly fast.
It may sound like a silly question but why would a muscle relaxant do this? They told me I'd just had a 'bad reaction' to it after they hooked me up to another machine.
I've read a little about it whereby some reactions were vomiting, yellowing of eyes but i had all of that before hand due to having jaundice. Is a sudden fast heart rate a fairly common reaction to the drug?

It isn't common. You were most likely experiencing an allergic reaction.
