The body can crave food especially food high in sugar to compensate for lacking serotonin levels notably when tired.

Also some medications can affect the brains ability to turn off hunger.

EDIT:

From my experience it took me around 3 months to correct my bad eating habits.
I had a few hiccups in between but kept at it. In this case perseverance was my best friend.
Rather than eating 3 large meals I adopted a more French diet routine of eating smaller meals but more of them.

A tip for staying full for longer:

Eat more soups and purees. Solid food is digested quicker due to the nature of the muscles surrounding the stomach. By eating soups and softer foods especially for snacks you can not only feel full for longer but you can feel fulfilled for longer.

Minimise your salt intake as that can get the palette and hunger excited just as a starter course at a restaurant can.

In regards to sleep:

Make sure there are no distractions in your room like television, computer, noise etc.

Set a time to go to bed, the next night go to bed 5 minutes earlier etc.

Keep a bottle of water next to your bed.

Thirst can often be mistaken for hunger, you may just need to drink a lot more. If you are craving certain foods you may be lacking an vitamin that they contain, so your body is trying to tell you to get more of it. Try multivitamins. Being bored and inactive can cause hunger so try to move about more, you don't have to exercise, but at least go for a walk each day. If you are on medication, it could be a side effect. It is not something wrong with you, it is very normal, most people feel this way often.
