I have back pain, but its in my legs?!?!

Question:

I have back pain, but its in my legs?!?

I have degenerative arthirtis in my lower back. The pain spread to my legs. My calf, hamstring, butt muscles all hurt extremly bad. It feels like a constant cramp or strained muscle. Some times when I walk to take a step a certain way the paint shoots up my leg through all these muscles, the pain is agony and so excruciating. Is this normal and what can I do to relive this. I take Naprosym and Some, pain medications and muscle relaxers and no avail please help!

Answers:

I have the same problem PLUS I have numbness in my legs. I am going in next week for steroid injections in my lower back from my back specialist. He says it is a joint problem as long as the steroids work. If the injections don't work, I he says it may need a surgical procedure which he hasn't gone into in depth yet. He's pretty positive it is a joint problem. I am also on mega pain meds and he says with it being a joint problem, they won't kill most of the pain. Check back with me next week and I'll let you know the results.
