Surgery again?!

Question:

Surgery again?

I am possibly going to have another surgery again to slide another lead up in my spine with the rest of my leads to see if I can provide stimulation (I have a Spinal Cord Stimulator) in my right leg because they now belive that my spinal cord is twisted so that the leads that are placed directly in the center of my spinal cord are stimulating my left side because they need to be further over to my right so they stimulate my right side. I'm 14, and have had 4 other surgeries in the past year and a half all realted to my Spinal Cord Stimulator (they've had to do so many surgeries because of my scarring condition which has picked up the leads and moved them away from where they were placed, and also one doctor placed them in a bad place in my spine). It would be a fairly minor surgery considering what I've been through in the past year and a half, but I don't really know if I should have another surgery. I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome in my right leg. What is your opinion?

I am working with my doctors and my programmer, but I was just wondering what everybody else's opinoin was about the surgery.
I still am in a fair amount of pain even though it is somewhat reduced from what it has been.

Answers:

Unfortunately, let them do the surgery to try to get the leads placed in the right place. I am going through kind of what you are, except that the spinal cord stimulator didn't work for me, so they implanted an intrathecal pain pump in my left hip. They are going to have to do the same thing. I have so much scar tissue from the original back surgery that it is moving the wires out of place. Now, they need to go back in and try to move the leads to the right area, because I am only getting relief in the left side and I need more relief on the right side. Just think how much better you might feel if they get this taken care of. Best of luck to you. You will be in my prayers!
