Answers:

Yea that person above is stupid. Well heres the thing, you put ice on injuries to reduce swelling. If you are sick do no put ice on them, you are doing the exact opposite of what you should be doing. Your tonsils swell due to infection, swelling increases blood flow which allows the body to deliver more nutrients and antibiotics to the infection. By trying to reduce the swelling you will pro-long the recovery time. I would highly recommend taking vitamins instead of using peas. Vitamin C is the best. It is most common in citric fruits (lemon, oranges, limes, etc) So eat some oranges a few times daily and put lemon or lime in your water. Drinking a lot of water while sick helps to flush out bad toxins in the body and helps your body increase recovery time. More fluid = more support to flush toxins. Now if you had tonsil surgery I would say yes put peas on your neck, but if this is related to sickness then no do not. Even if you feel better it doesn't mean your fully healed yet, it just means your body has stabilized the threat and is winning the fight. They can remain swollen for another week or so. I highly doubt they are swollen enough to hurt your image, and if they are I would seek medical help immediately. Best of Luck and feel better.

PreMed student, Pain Mgmt Therapist, EMT, had tonsils removed due to strep throat over 15 times in 6 months.

why would you put pea's on ur neck? that's stupid.
