How do you tell if a knuckle is broken or just deeply bruised?...serious answers only?
I hurt my knuckle yesterday and the pain was so sudden when i hurt it that i thought that i had hurt my finger... as the day progressed i realized that the pain was in my knuckle and that when i pick up anything even minor in weight i get a shooting pain up my arm and when i clench my fist it hurts very badly, it is a little swollen compared to my other hand (im not sure if it will keep swelling because it is only the day after i hurt it) and it doesn't look that bruised yet ( again not sure if it will bruise up later)...my mom isn't that sympathetic so unless im almost 100% sure that its broken or dislocated or somethin, im not going to the doctor (even to get x-rays)...can someone please help me figure out what is wrong w/ my knuckle?

Looks like it is broken esp when you pick some thing and a shooting intense pain occurs. If it was sprain only then after sometime it tends to become a little less, with broken one it increases, not less.
