Is there a correlation between donating blood and an eye twitch?!

Question:

Is there a correlation between donating blood and an eye twitch?

I have been experiencing a twitch in my left eyelid for a few months. I have also been donating platelets for a few months since I found out my friend has luekemia. I was rejected as a doner for about a month because my iron was too low and my eye twitch stopped for two weeks. Not thinking anything about it, I donated again when I my iron was back up, and the eye twitch started again. Has anyone else experienced this? I was about to get botox injections for the twitch because it wasn't stopping and its not explained with an MRI and blood tests. I don't want to stop donating blood, but I don't want the twitch either. What else can I do?

Answers:

The eye twitch is usually nerves. Almost everyone has had bouts of it at one time or another. I doubt it has anything to do with donating blood. However, if you're going to continue to be a plasma doner you need to be taking an iron supplement. Especially if you're female and from your avatar I'm assuming you are.
