I have pain in my heel, what could it be? (long story)?!
Question: I have pain in my heel, what could it be? (long story)?
1. Do you go to your regular doctor for pains like this?
2. Do you have any idea of what it might be?
~Thanks!

Hello,
First of all I am sorry that you have this pain which prevents you from doing what you like.
However, from your description it is very hard to determine exactly what is wrong with your heel/foot.
It definitely sounds like a bruised heel. If it's not too much of a hassle then definitely have it checked out by a doctor, but if you don't want to or can't, then follow these home remedies.
1) In general you should be completely resting your injured foot - No walking or standing at all (Use crutches if needed)
2) Continue to Ice your heel at least 4 times a day, either by applying ice directly or by rolling a frozen bottle under your heel when you sit down.
3) Take pain medication like Advil only if needed
Now, In order to understand your condition better and to give you a better diagnosis please answer these questions:
1) Is it sensitive to the touch/press on it?
2) Where exactly is the pain located in your heel?
3) Do you have high or low arches in your feet?
4) Is the pain just as bad as when you were injured or there is some improvement?
5) Is there any redness or bruising visible?
6) Can you walk on it at all?
You can write to me directly if you prefer, my email is in my profile.
Good luck and feel better
You need to go see a ankle and foot doctor. You might have a heel spur or you could of cracked it or something. I broke my heel before and it hurt for weeks but the only thing that picked up the broken heel was a CAT scan! Go see a ankle and foot doctor they will help you and they will give you something for pain. If you live in Pa go down to Philly and see Dr. Scot Malay that is who I see for my ankle problem he is great! He really cares and listens to his patients!!
There are ways of taping it that will help. Slow stretching and massage can help. I think you should be under the care of a Doctor. You don't want this to screw up your foot forever.

You need to see a podiatrist. You may have a heel spur
As you can see, everyone answering this post is just guessing. Any pain that does not resolve itself in a reasonable period of time should be examined by a doctor.
An xray would be indicated to make sure you do not have a stress fracture in the heel. Things like icing and wearing a brace will help, but they will not solve the problem.
Make an appointment with a podiatrist and get an accurate diagnosis instead of just "guessing" what the problem might be.
