Did I break a bone or tear tendons in my hand?!

Question: Did I break a bone or tear tendons in my hand?
About 3 weeks ago I had an incident at practice with my hand. The guy I was working out with took me down and rolled on top of my hand which caused my pinky, ring.and middles fingers on my left hand to extend all the way back to the back of my hand. To make a long story short I wrestled with this injury for 3 weeks. I iced it the first two and it brought the swelling down but I still can't bend my fingers fully and im still in a lot of pain. I am going to an orthopedic tomorrow and I also have eliminations for individual sections. What are the chances that I won't be able to wrestle based on what i've said? I'm not sure if anything severe is wrong with it I just would like an opinion before I go to the doctors to see if there might be.

We cannot know for sure, but it might be jammed fingers. You can probably figure it out yourself based on the symptoms. Pain, swelling, loss of motion, and loss of strength are all very common symptoms of a jammed finger. Swelling within the joint is very obvious, and you can usually tell very easily when you have suffered a finger sprain.

One knuckle will swell up, and it will look noticibly bigger than the others. Unfortunately, this swelling often lasts for weeks if not months. Sometimes it never completely goes away.

Pain and motion usually come back fairly quickly, depending on how severe the sprain is.

You may have stretched or torn ligaments. Since the initial injury was like hyperextension it might be a bad sprain but it is good that you are going to the doctor to get it checked out. My gut feeling is that you may need to rest it for a while.
