What could cause random foot/ankle swelling?!

Question: What could cause random foot/ankle swelling?

I looked down tonight and realized that my left foot/ankle lower leg was at least twice the size as my right. I didn't sprain or twist it so I don't know what could cause it. Please help.

Sometimes it can be caused by fluid retention. Or it may be a sprain. If it continues and you have no explanation for it you should get it checked.
