Should I get a surgery?!

Question: Should I get a surgery?
Well i have something called tarsal coalition, it is where a bone in my foot is becoming connected to another bone in my foot and it is causing me a lot of pain, but not all the time. Only if i run or do any sort of physical activity. i went to the doctors and he said that i for sure should get the surgery if i ever want to run when i am older (i am 16 now) and duhh i do, but it is a pretty big surgery i guess from what i have heard... i got a 2nd opinion and this doctor said that i don’t have to have the surgery if i want to stop playing sports... any whooo do you think i should get it?? I’m scared to but i want to if i could get better from it.

I had one removed about a year ago. I was in severe pain all of the time and I hardly had any range of motion in my foot and ankle. It was seriously the best decision I have ever made. I was a real minor procedure. I was only in the OR for about 30 minutes. I spent two weeks on crutches and then an additional two weeks in a walking cast. Within two months of surgery, I was kickboxing and running. I was completely pain free within about three months of having the surgery.

I was told the younger you are the easier your recovery will be. (and I am ten years older than you).

I would make the decision to have this surgery again in a heartbeat. I will be having the same surgery on my opposite foot sometime within the next year.
