IS CRACKING YOUR BACK, BAD FOR YOUR SPINE IN THE LONG RUN?!

Question:

IS CRACKING YOUR BACK, BAD FOR YOUR SPINE IN THE LONG RUN?

I crack my back atleast 7 times a day, i dont know if its a habit or if it's BAD 4 u, but after i do it, it feels really good, like i crack my spine back into alignment, if i dont do it, i feel very uncomfortable, so if theres any chiropractics or if anyone knows plz enlighten me, i do appreciate it

Answers:

As a general rule, "cracking" your back should be done by a chiropractor only. They are trained to do this and they adjust, not crack - they know how to align your spine without wrenching it. When you "crack" it you may be doing more damage than good.

I'd suggest you go see a chiropractor and ask the chiropractor about it. For instance, a chiropractor told my boyfriend that he could "crack" his neck as long as he didnt use his hands to wrench it. He just turns his head to the side and it adjusts - your chiropractor will be able to tell you if you are allowed to do something similar without causing problems.

Since you feel better after you adjust I would suspect what you're doing is alright. A chiropractor might be able to show you some exercises to strengthen the muscles around the vertebrae that are not staying in place.

Good luck to you.
