Could I have a hairline fracture on my shin or do I just wait it out?!

About a week and a half ago i tripped and fell very hard onto brick landing on my shin. I was in excruciating pain when it happened and stayed on the ground for a long while. I can walk on it but as soon as i do as little as put my hand on my shin or just it the excruciating pain returns. The is a bump of swelling in two places and slight bruising. Could it be a fractured shin or tibia or did i just bruise it? What should i do, wait it out or go to the doctor?
