Red Itchy toe. Do i have a spider bite?!

Question: Red Itchy toe. Do i have a spider bite?
My left middle toe has been red, itchy, and swollen for a little more than two weeks. Today it has a blackish tint but it's very light and doesnt show in pictures. The doctor gave me some pills in case of infection a few days ago. i havent had the whole bottle yet but it doesnt seem to help. It also hurts when i press on it but i havent dropped anything on it or hit it that i know of. The only spider i know for sure the name of that i have in my house are wolf spiders but there are others.

You could possibly have a spider bite. It is very difficult to tell any specific bug bite by the appearance of the bite alone, though these sites have pictures of different bug bites and may help you.

I would recommend you soak your foot in hot water with epsom salts in it. That will help with drawing out any infection that might be in your toe and will help with healing.

If this is not better when you have finished the antibiotics you need to go back to the doctor again. The very fact that s/he gave you antibiotics suggests that s/he thinks there could be infection.

It is quite possible that you have a spider bite. You did not say what other kinds you have but this really needs to be closely monitored by your Dr. If it is a Brown Recluse you will need aggressive treatment. I'm not saying it is, I haven't seen the bite and I am not a physician but those are really nasty bites I have seen some that were not properly treated in time and believe me it is not a pretty sight.
