Question: I have a sugar glider bite that is swollen and painful is this a possible infection?
I recently bought two sugar gliders from a pet store. One of them bit me when the first day I had them this was almost a month ago.At 1st the bite didnt bother me at all but the past three days every night I wake up in pain and its swollen.Its on my pointer finger twice the size of my other finger now.Is this a possible infection?There is no pus its not even an open wound anymore.

Its possible with any kind of animal bite to have infection, especially if it wasn't cleaned properly after the bite. I would just go to the doctor and see about antibiotics or such.

yes, very possible it is cellulitis.

Yes not only could it be infected it probably is. I do not know what sugar gliders are but I do not need to for this. Keep the area as clean as possible and call your Dr. yesterday would not have been too soon. Call a Veterinarian and the place where you got them. THey should be checked for rabies or any of a host of different things it could be. The Vet for the animals-have them both checked and the MD for you. This should have been done when it happened. Any animal bite that breaks the skin needs to be reported and checked out asap.
