Do you as a teenager have the freedom to earn and spend?....or do you let your children earn money themselves?
Answers:
Both of my sons worked summer jobs starting at around 12 years old. They wanted to, I didn't force them, or even encourage them much. It was just the thing country boys did in the summer. They worked harvests and did farm type work for some people in our small community where we lived.
They spent their money on what they wanted, bought their own first vehicles, and I encouraged them to save some too. I didn't force them to save, but I showed them how and encouraged it.
They're both grown now and I'm proud of them because they have good work ethics and manage their money well. They say the most important thing they learned is that earing money can be fun.
