Question: I have a hole in my thumb with possible infection and temp of 102.4,do I need to see a doctor?
I thought I had just hit my thumb and cracked the skin open. I didn't put anything on it or wrap it, I just let it be. That was four days ago. I now think it's some sort of bite because the one little spot has turned into a literal hole in my thumb. I can see down to what I think is the bone,whatever it is it's white-ish looking. My thumb hurts like hell,is swollen and I have a temperature now. I poured alcohol in it and rinsed it out a few times then put neosporin on it and wrapped it up now. It's not bleeding or anything,it just hurts.
My parents have left for work already so I'm home alone. I didn't go to school today because I have the fever and I'm sweating when it's not all that hot. My temp is 102.4F. Do I need to call one of my parents and have them come get me and take me to the doctor or can it wait until my mom gets off at 2pm? It's now 8:30. What else should I do/take until I can see a doctor?

Answers:
Drink a lot of fluids, perhaps try some paracetamol - it should dampen the fever. If you hit 103F, you should seek medical attention immediately - especially if you took some paracetamol.
get some one to take you to your nearest A&E dept ASAP
or go to your local chemist for immediate advice.
