Noisey neigbor what can I do?!

Question: Noisey neigbor what can I do?
My boyfriend and I are in our early 20s and live above his grandmother's garage and it's split into two apartments- and the walls are very thin. Several months ago we started hearing loud groaning and moaning noises from our neighbor(no one else is with him) anywhere from the hours of 9 PM- 3 AM that woke us up and really interuppted our sleeping. We wrote a letter and asked him to please be mindful of this situation. Rather than acknowledge us, he took off for three weeks and didn't sleep at home at all. Now, he is back at it again. We are not sure what these noises are but we believe he has something like night terrors- he yells so loud, most of the time incoherently and at all hours. We are not sure what to do- the man is in his 50s and is a cousin's friend of the family, so we have to be tactful- although I would love to tell him to go F himself. It has gotten so bad that I am now sleeping at my parents' house because i can't afford to lose more sleep. I've tried using ear plugs but I can hear him right thru them, or they fall out, or they hurt my ears after wearing them for several hours. I've also tried listening to music on my Ipod but this is futile also. Help!

Since your noisy neighbor didn't respond to your letter I'd take it up with your boyfriend's grandmother/landlord. OR, speak to or write another letter to the noisy neighbor and suggest he get some medical advice since you think he may be having night terrors. There's sleep therapy and medication available that might help him. If none of that works then tell Grandma that either he goes or you go. Good luck!

Yeah, i had that to a few times, first tell them to shut up, if that doesn't work call the cops, if that doesn't work then you gonna have to find other place to live unfortunately...

Noise proof the wall or move out.

I've moved around a lot and lived in different cities. Once in awhile you'll just end up in a situation where you can't stand your neighbors. If your neighbor has night terrors, you can't really expect him to stop just by asking him to stop.

Move out or have him moved out. Some people in your situation might result to doing things that would eventually cause the neighbor to want to leave. The whole "why should I be the one" mentality. I guess it depends on what type of person you want to be.
