what should I do about my thumb?!

I banged my wrist about a month ago and I was still in pain a week later so I went to the doctors they checked it and said its not broken he thinks Ive just banged the ligaments and the pain should go down in a few weeks. Its still hurting and my thumb keeps clicking out of place (dislocating) when it does this it is really painful and I have to push it back into place will this get better on its own or what should I do?
