In life one must assess risk all the time. How much we worry is generally based on what we perceive to be the biggest risks.

So let's look at the risk of appendicitis.

For starters only 1 in 15 people get it.

Secondly, except in rare cases it does not seem to be hereditary. That basically has to do with the position of the appendix in your body making it more prone to infection.

Overall, it would appear not to be such a huge risk that you should worry over. Even if the worst case scenario of appendicitis were to happen, you will come through it okay. So don't worry, be happy.

You have been telling yourself that you can get it because your mom got it. You have to start telling yourself that you won't get it even though your mom got it, that it doesn't mean you will get it because your mom did. Your mom and dad can both have different issues between them and it doesn't mean you are doomed to get the same thing, so quit telling yourself it means that. One last thing, it doesn't mean you might not get it, but what does worrying about it get you? If you quit living today because of what might happen tomorrow you aren't going to be living at all. What kind of life would that be? Even if you got it they can get rid of the problem for you so it still isn't a big deal, but deal with it IF it happens, not everyday when it hasn't happened.
