Why do I need to have a full glass of water with my vitamin?!

Question: Why do I need to have a full glass of water with my vitamin?
I take a basic store-brand multivitamin almost every day because I have problems always paying attention to what I'm eating to make sure I get all the vitamins and minerals I need. It's suggested that I take the vitamin with a full glass of water, which I didn't know until a couple of days ago, so for a couple of weeks I've been taking the vitamin in the same way I took my old vitamin (also a multivitamin, but it only suggested to use with food).

I'll try to do this from now on, but I was just wondering why it should be taken with a full glass of water. Thanks :)

Probably the best time to take a multivitamin is towards the end of a meal or straight after a meal.

If you take it without food but with a full glass of water it is unlikely to be well absorbed or well digested.

Because your body actually absorbs only a small percentage of the vitamins in your supplement. The rest must be eliminated by the kidneys, and a little extra water helps with this.

If your multivitamin/mineral supplement contains iron, taking it with food can also help reduce the chances of stomach upset.
