Question: I AM NOT GOING TO DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
Answers:
The main ingredient in soap is surfactant. Surfactant chemically modifies water so it will clean your hands better. There are also chemicals in hand soap to clean better and in some hand soaps there are antimicrobials to kill germs on your skin. The first thing that would happen is you would probably throw up. This would be because it doesn't taste very good. I actually had a patient that did this and came into the ER. We called poison control and were told the biggest effect he would have is he would have vomiting and diarrhea. You could become dehydrated from that very quickly. Drinking hand soap will not kill you. Hand soap is broken down in the body just as anything else you ingest is broken down. It can irritate the mucosa in your mouth but that would be from the fragrance in the soap. There is some peroxide in some hand soaps. People have soap introduced into their system everyday! It's called an enema and basically all that is in an enema is soap and water. Almost the same destination just a different route. How much you vomit or have diarrhea in the first five minutes would depend on the person and how much they were able to drink. If you've ever gotten shampoo in your mouth when taking a shower then you know the taste is very unpleasant. I hope that helps. And don't drink the soap.
